So I know it’s a little late but here’s an update from LAST time I was here (Jan 4-15).
I hadn’t been back in something like 2 months so I had to go through all the “intake” testing. When an artist is gone for over 5 weeks, there’s all sorts of baseline tests they do such as “do as many situps as you can in 60 seconds”, long jumps, squats, lunges, flexibility testing, etc. There was a land test and a water test and I did them back to back. There wasn’t a lot of time so I couldn’t just take it slow. I was SO unbelievably sore for the next week. Not only because of the testing but because of being put right back into almost full show right away!
The shows went pretty well even though it turns out I had strained my ab pretty badly (thankfully that’s all healed up now). The following week I got REALLY sick too and had to miss a day of shows. I’m still getting over that same cold!
The best part of last time I was here was that I had so many visitors! My longtime friend Sarah Bernes, her brother Ben, and her mom came to see the show. The same night another family friend, Bonnie (also friend’s with the Bernes’) saw the show. The following Saturday my sister and Corey saw the show as well as one of my coaches from when I was about 10 years old, Sarah Williams and 3 of her friends. So despite the injuries and illness, I think everyone had a great time.
I also got to see The Beatles LOVE by Cirque. Since I am an artist, I can request light booth seats (seats way up high) or “jump seats” as they call them at LOVE (they don’t have a light booth). For some reason that balcony was closed so I got one of the best seats in the house! For free! I’ll post photos from that in my next post.
